Dog Nurses Rare Twin Tigers

Twin Bengal Tigers, a very rare and special occurrence in the animal world, has enlisted the help of young nursing canine mother to help supplement their feeding needs, ABCnews reports. In Quogek, China, the tiger cubs are happily bonding with their new wet nurse and their caretakers are thrilled that they found a solution to the potential feeding problems.

The twin cubs were born at a safari park in northwest China and park staff members were concerned that their mother would be unable to provide enough milk for both cubs. The cubs have not been named yet. One of the cubs is the traditional color and the second is all white- another are occurrence in the animal kingdom. The parents are 8-year-old Bengal tigers.

When the staff realized the mother would not be able to produce enough milk for the cubs, they found a young dog to help with the demands of nursing. In addition to helping to feed the cubs, the young dog is also nursing her own litter of newborn puppies. The staff is happy to announce that the tiger cubs are progressing well and they anticipate the twin tiger cubs will be ready for public showings by June 1st.
